Can my chunky ass teach an old dog new tricks?

Fitbit on! Walking 10,000 steps a day – check – jogging umm – check not check – jogged 20 seconds 3 times on my walk. So 1 minute – Two main issues: 1.) This chunky persons ten year old dog was not having it. He started nipping at me and uncharacteristically barking. I heard him loud and clear – “I don’t know who’s dog you think you have on the other end of this leash but I AM NOT THAT EFFIN DOG!!!!” 2.) This much weight pounding down on the legs, ankles and bones is not so great. I went and got a small knee brace and gel inserts for shoes. Probably need to walk the dog for 5,000 steps and then go back out and try jogging again.

Umm just not there YET. However with this much weight, it’s not hard to get to cardio heart weight with walking for now.

I am however motivated, like many of my fellow chunk a monks, by the prospect of burning enough calories to eat dimsum.

  1. Go Chunk a Monk! As one who also struggles with running for the same reason, I advise you to invest in some good walking shoes. I wear Saucony’s. Look forward to reading more posts 🙂
